Refrigerated freight represents almost one-fifth of all air freight globally. And the vast majority of that is headed overseas. Cargo from the U.S. to international markets — particularly Asia — is more common and far more profitable than to U.S. domestic markets.


One of the largest freight companies in the world is Eurofreight International Group, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. Eurofreight had a 31% market share of the global freight forwarding industry in 2017, according to IBISWorld. But it’s a relatively new entrant to the U.S. market, having entered the U.S. market for the first time in 2008. Eurofreight says it’s trying to gain ground in the U.S. by expanding its international network of airport agents — the network carriers whose agents fill the freight space that freight forwarders’ and freight brokers’ freight network would otherwise fill.
